PLANS FOR SAFE RE-OPENING
As we begin school, our primary goal is the safety and well-being of our pupils and staff while providing in-person instruction. Please note that as the level of community spread of the virus changes, our guidelines will adjust accordingly.
HANDWASHING AND SANITIZING
We have hand wash sinks strategically placed at the entrance to the school building. This would enable all pupils and staff wash their hands safely before entering the school building. Sanitizing units and hand wash sinks are also strategically located within the school building where pupils can sanitize and wash their hands as often as possible.
SCHOOL NURSE
The school nurse will manage the health of our staff and pupils while at school and lead our response plan for any occurrence of infectious diseases. All illnesses will be addressed through the school nurse and communicated to the parents concerned.
CLASSROOM SOCIAL /PHYSICAL DISTANCING
Our school has always been focused on having few pupils in a class and as such we maintain that. We have also arranged pupils desks and chairs in such a manner as to maintain the recommended social /physical distance safety protocol in the classrooms. Classrooms are also well ventilated to allow free flow of air.
No large group gatherings will take place.
TEMPERATURE SCREENING
We will be conducting temperature checks of all staff and pupils, using infrared thermometer at least twice daily incase anyone is not feeling well. Individuals with a fever at or above 38 degree centigrade will be sent to the Health Bay.
USE OF FACE COVERINGS
We have decided that all staff and pupils must bring masks or face coverings to school. They will be required to wear these coverings before entering the building, and they must remain on until they have had their temperatures scanned and have made it to their desks or workstations. If moving to common areas pupils and staff must wear face coverings. Pupils without a face mask will not be allowed into the school premises.
ARRIVAL & DISMISSAL OF PUPILS
To expedite arrival and screening, all pupils will be dropped off at the car park, parents would not be allowed into the school building. In the afternoon, pupils would be picked up based on their closing time from the pick-up area only. There would be no after school wait as classrooms and other rooms would need to be sanitized in preparation for the next school day.
VISITORS
No visitors will be allowed to enter past the receptionist desk during school hours. Any in-person visit should be made by appointment via our contact details. All visitors needing to move past the receptionist will be temperature checked and will need a face covering.
WHAT HAPPENS IF A PUPIL OR STAFF MEMBER STARTS FEELING ILL AT SCHOOL OR SOMEONE CONTRACTS COVID-19?
Individuals who become ill at school will be referred to the school nurse and placed in one of our designated rooms. Parents will be contacted to come and take the pupil home. We will follow the professional counsel of the school nurse related to next steps of any ill pupils or staff members. All communication to parents regarding potential exposure to others, possible extended time at home, contact tracing and communicating will come from the school nurse. It is imperative that we commit to keeping our children home if they are not feeling well and notifying the school of any positive cases of COVID-19 or close contact with others with COVID-19.
WILL THE WATER DISPENSERS BE AVAILABLE TO USE?
No water dispensers would be available for use. all pupils and staff are to bring their own water / water bottles everyday.
